I’m a writer, editor and semi-retired journalism consultant based in Brooklyn, N.Y.
I’m the author of the Jupiter Pirates space-fantasy series for young adults. The first book is due out from HarperCollins in early 2014. I also write books about Star Wars, as well as essays, articles, blog posts etc. about baseball, music, travel and anything else that strikes my fancy.
Baseball is my religion. I co-write Faith and Fear in Flushing, the Mets blog for fans who like to read.
I spent more than 12 years at The Wall Street Journal Online, writing about technology, sports and other things. I served as an ESPN ombudsman as part of the Poynter Review project, and wrote a column about digital sportswriting for Indiana University’s National Sports Journalism Center. (My best columns are collected in an e-book here.) Archived thoughts on digital journalism can be found at my blog Reinventing the Newsroom, now updated irregularly.
